Wedding Photography Questions - FAQ
And for all those little questions that you might be thinking, here's my FAQ page. Hopefully I've got it covered, but if there's something you want to know about your wedding photography that isn't here, feel free to drop me an email.
We are having quite a big wedding and are thinking about having two photographers, is this something you can help us with?
Certainly! I would always recommend getting a second photographer if there is budget for it, especially if you’re having a 100 + guests. One photographer can only be in one place, however awesome they are, and by doubling that, it means that nothing gets missed and you have as many photos as possible of your guests enjoying your day. It also means you get two angles for moments like the ceremony!
What do we need to do if we want to book you?
The wedding date is secured when you have paid the £300 and returned the signed contract (which is done all online so it's super easy and there's no messing about with bits of paper!) This outlines both your obligations and mine and makes sure we are totally covered in any worst-case scenarios to give you total peace of mind.
What happens with our photos after the wedding?
Once the day's ended the pictures are backed up in 3 different places, and kept there even after they're delivered to you. This means that if the USB accidentally finds itself in a cup of tea, or lost in a box during a house move, you have total security that I will still have a safe copy of your images after your wedding. The images will take up to 4 weeks to get to you although I can never resist sending a few sneak peeks in the mean time...
What is an engagement shoot and why should we have one?
An engagement shoot is simply a chance for you to get used to me with a camera in my hand, and for us to hopefully ease any apprehensions you might have before the day. I have re-named them SNAP & CHAT sessions as engagement shoot makes me cringe a little bit and 'snap and chat' just does what it says on the tin! Click here to read more about them and feel free to browse my blog for some recent ones. Please note I do these Monday -Friday only.
What is the 'Video Highlights' package that you offer?
Video highlight is just like a normal wedding film... only shorter. I shoot stills and film throughout the day creating a 4-6 minute video made up of lovely moments from your wedding day/ They are then lovingly stitched together to create a gorgeous little film which sums up your day in a few minutes, and are brilliant to show off to your friends and family. These can be added at any point after booking and I occasionally take bookings for video only. Read more about them here.
How far will you travel for a wedding?
Although I live in Shrewsbury and love to shoot Shropshire weddings, I also love to explore and travel and being able to photograph all over the country is one of the perks of the job for me! I have my own car (and a passport…) so can pretty much get anywhere. Reasonable travel costs may be added if your wedding is outside of the Shropshire area.
What are the albums you offer?
Supporting local businesses is really important to me, and I have chosen to offer albums that are handmade by a bookbinding company in Ludlow, Shropshire. They are 9 x9 inches, hold 80 prints, come in gorgeous presentation boxes and are embossed with your names on the cover. You can see more about them here.
Do you offer any discounts?
If your wedding is on a weekday, if you want shorter coverage or if you're doing anything that's on my wedding photography bucket list please contact me and let's chat...
What's this documentary photography style you keep talking about?
In a nutshell, it's about capturing things just the way they happen. No posing, no setting up shots, no bossing around.
It's an unobtrusive, personal and honest documentation of the day delivered in a natural and relaxed way.
Will you still do the posed, formal family shots at the wedding even though you're a documentary photographer?
I think having a few photos with the family all together can be an important part of the day, although whether or not we do them is completely up to you. If you choose to, I make it my mission to get them in the bag as quickly and in the funnest way possible so I can get on with the candids.
Are you insured?
I have both public liability and professional indemnity. Rest assured all my equipment is professional level and I carry backups at all time.
We're interested in booking you but want to chat further before we pay the deposit - is this possible?
Of course! I want to make sure I’m the best fit for you both and to give you a feel for what I’m like as a person, as well as a photographer. If you're based in Shropshire I’m more than happy to meet for a cup of tea, or if you're further afield we can have a chat on Skype.
